Good for garage storage
This is the 5th Edsal shelf we have purchased. We own three that are 18” deep, but prefer this one that is 24”. We purchased this particular shelf to go in our garage to store our camping items. We wound up with an extra shelf for storage! We pulled the shelf off the wall by a couple of inches so the longer items can hang off the back.
* It holds a lot of stuff
* Two shelves are adjustable
* It is a bit tricky to put together. It took two people.
* The shelf material is a cheap particle board.The corners start to crumble right out of the box. However, once it is in place, it is very sturdy.
* For this particular shelf the metal sides are slightly higher than the particle board. It is not a huge inconvenience, however our last shelf the boards were higher and I liked that much better. (See pictures.)
I paid full price for this item. I am giving my honest and unbiased review.

Not even close to what is advertised.
By C. R. Wagner
I will admit, these (I bought 2) could be decent shelving units with a few modifications (which I’ll have to do just to make them usable). 4000 lbs rating, 800 lb per shelf??? Not even close. I doubt each shelf can even hold 100 lbs. Particle board shelves are about 3/8″ thick. If they were 5/8″ or 3/4″ I might believe 1/2 of the capacity rating. Also, the side supports bow outward, so if you push down on the shelf, it’ll fall through. [Modification idea #1, screw shelf into supports to keep supports from being able to bow outward. Mod #2, replace shelves with thicker wood (3/4 MDF??).]
Also, I don’t trust the top section. The corner up-rights are in 2 pieces. They are connected by putting the middle shelf supports half in the top hole of the bottom up-right and half in the bottom hole of the top upright. I thought they would be bolted together. I don’t have any confidence that these will hold up under weight. Especially since the instructions tell you not to put heavy items on top. Why? Are they saying it really can’t hold 800lbs per shelf?

Frames is great – difficult to assemble alone and not stable enough to move once assembled,,,,,, would not buy again.
Bought four of these for my new barn because of the load rating on them and the frames are certainly strong enough but the shelves are not much stiffer than cardboard. Two jugs of oil on one and the next day it was sagging by at least an inch. I’ll have to invest in some heavier boards to make them useful. If you buy them just go out and buy a few sheets of 3/4′ plywood and pitch the shelves that come with them. Also, although the frames are very strong once assembled, assembly is a royal pain and once assembled they are almost impossibly to move without something coming undone. Would not recommend.
